Lifebook wk4: Have Courage dear Heart

This week in Lifebook land, a lesson from Patti Bernard, where we are to draw a ballerina overtop a collaged background.

I chose to use a music sheet, some tea bag tags, some affirmations and cool postage stamps,...

I painted with acrylics, and outlined with a fine black marker.

Some golden hearts falling from the sky were created with some champagne shimmer paint.

Week 4 of 52 complete!

Lifebook wk3: Artful Words

This week in Lifebook, we received a lesson in how to create artsy writing with Joanne Sharpe

Using the mantra "Art heals your soul," we are to use 3/4 of the page for the wording and the other space for doodling.

My piece is inspired by my plans to go camping this summer with a friend. I drew it by pencil first then went over it with a fine point black marker

.

I used my Stampin' Up! markers along the edges. and then would go over that same section with an Aqua-Pen, It lets you drag the colour out in a relatively seamless wash, piece by piece.

Oh the messy, imperfectness of it all!... that I'm just going with since I'm really working on letting the perfectionist tendencies that hold me back go.

Have an awesome day!

If you are wondering what happened to week 2, well, I skipped it!

Life Book 2015- wk 1

Check it out! I signed up for this online mixed media course! YAY!!!
It's called Life Book and we do one project a week, all on the same size paper, and then bound them together at the end. The part I really love is that they are all centered around "practicing self care through art," as Tamara Laporte (lead teacher) says.

We have to do one lesson/wk, and I'm a month late already, but I really have had a lot going on. I thought I'd share my projects with you along the way.

In week 1 we had to create a fantasy character, and in these proportions/position. Because the teacher was modelling a sun character in yellow, I thought I'd switch it and do a moon character in blue. The background is done in watercolor, the face is a mix of watercolour, acrylics, and markers.

"Surrender me your dreams" is Goddess lingo for "Share your dreams with me," I dunno, it just came out that way and I went with it. Her dress is made of strips of paper and splotches of iridescent paint applied with a stick and moved around with an old credit card!

Her hair is purple and she wears a simple moon crown. I got to use my stamps for the stars around her. I even got to  pull out the glitter! This was a fun project!

Yay! I'm done at least one lesson!

SUO 112 & PP 225 & CCC 053: Sparkly Snow Wreath

All the talk about the Winter Solstice put me in the mood to create a card that was inspired by Snow.

I wanted to make a shaker card, for the holidays, and to make it a bit extra fancy as the challenge with The Paper Players suggested!

I find twinkling snow to be so magical, that it makes winter a happier, merrier, time. The SUO Challenge this week is all about creating a project that includes something that conveys the season greetings of Merry or Happy. I chose "Happy Holidays" since I have friends of many faiths.

I was thrilled to see that Catherine and Cathy Creates challenge this week was Walking in a Winter Wonderland! Yay!

Here is my card. It's simple but fancy!

Paper: Marina Mist, Pool Party, Whisper White cardstock, Silver Glimmer paper,
Stamps: Four Seasons, Four the Holidays
Ink: Marina Mist, Pool Party
Tools: XL scallop punch, 1" circle punch, small heart punch
Extras: Shaker dimensional circles, glitter, beads, rhinestones in white and blue, window sheet

Really, what are the holidays without the snow? When you live in Canada...snow, especially twinkling snow, the pretty kind is always welcome and certainly makes me feel happier about winter (well, I'll just speak for myself on that one.)

Happy Winter Solstice!

FMS 164: Kiwi Kiss Hybrids

More Kiwi Kiss Hybrids!
I used the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches as my inspiration for this piece. I'll admit to flipping on it's side and upside down (I put the greeting where the bow was in the sketch.)

The flower portion is the Hybrid section, as I used My Digital Studio to create it. I fussy cut it out (this was the longest portion of the card making.)

The Kiwi Kiss liner was pierced along each edge and finished with a white gel pen to create faux stitching.

My greeting is a rub-on. I made a couple of cards and used different greetings.

La pièce de résistance...is my gorgeous corduroy button to top it all off!
So simple but so cute!

Stay warm! I'm off to dog walk in -24°C (which feels like -34°C with windchill according to my weather app, ugh)

Halloween tags

Here are some Halloween tags I made! Perfect to spice up your treats for someone special!

I was actually able to take a picture that captured the luminescent shine I created on the moon. Yay!

A destroyed version of the Greeting Card Kid, kinda old and creepy looking.

Glitter and frayed ribbon! So much fun :D

Wouldn't you feel special if you received a small bag of your favorite treats topped with some handmade Halloween fun? I would! And that is why I'm off to create some little bags of black licorice cats for one friend, dark chocolate berries for another, and I found these cute little blackberry candies that look nice and festive but don't taste like black licorice, perfect for my final friend. I only make a couple of bags and that way it doesn't get out of hand, but I still get to gift goodies with cute little tags.

Hope your Halloween is fun and SCaaARY!!!

shower part 2

Here is Part 2 of the shower finally! This is the banner I made for the party.

I also made some little decorative accents, which are basically cards that act as cute little signs.

I used the Tangerine pom-pom trim to string the banner and some retired big buttons were perfect add-ons!

The little onesies I made in My Digital Studio and printed them out then I added a backing using the larger label bunch and put some pom-pom trim on the bottom. Tangerine Tango baker's twine tops it all off.

I used LEGO CANDY!!!! Both parents were Lego freaks as kids, so it was a bit hit.

Some adorable cupcakes were made for the party by a very special secret someone. Little Mikes and Sculleys from Monster's Inc!

Ack! Almost too cute to eat with his jellybean horns!

Hope you are having a good Thanksgiving!
