A star is born

A cute card was required to welcome a friend's little boy to the world.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip
Tools: Crop-a-dile, Modern Label Punch, small star punch, smaller oval punch
Embellishments: Chocolate Chip ribbon, pewter eyelet, random button
Stamp set: Nursery Necessities, Level 1 Hostess set from Summer Mini 2010 (greeting)
Ink: Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip

The little boat was cut out and popped up onto the layers of blue & chocolate. I had to use the stamp-majig to get the words spaced appropriately around the star. I curled the edges of the modern label punch up for dimension. So simple and cute!

Plane & Simple

This was inspired by a cool new technique I learned. And it's sooo easy!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Ivory Naturals, Soft Suede
Designer Series Paper: retired
Ink: Baja Breeze, Soft Suede
Tools: Clear Block, Jewelry Tag punch, Mini Glue Dots, Snail
Embellishments: Ivory Big Button (from Deck the Halls), Natural Twill ribbon, Linen Thread
Stamps: Plane & Simple clear block set, Tiny Tags clear block set, You're a Gem clear block set

First, I stamped the natural twill ribbon using the Soft Suede ink and the argyle pattern from the Plane & Simple set.

Now for the cool technique! It's so easy, I took the clear block and inked it as if it were a stamp and stamped it onto the cardstock. It's almost as if one is looking out the window of a plane and seeing another. Or the reverse. Or both at once, haha.

Now, I'm a little crazy for this mini tag (or jewelry tag punch as it's properly called) so I had to add a mini tag. I stamped the solid background of it in baja breeze ink, using the Tiny Tags set. Then, I used a portion of a stamp from You're a Gem stamp set. I coloured the word "love" with a Soft Suede marker, and added it to the tag. See the bottom left stamp below.

I chose it because it has that same old style typewriter script as the greetings in the Plane & Simple stamp set.

Plane & Simple Stamp Set - by Stampin' Up!
I live with someone who is crazy for aviation, so I couldn't NOT get this set.  I am forever having to listen to stories about planes and there is always a show about planes in Alaska going on in the background it seems. So the plane in this set made me think of him.
