CFC44: Whale boy blue

I needed a card for a very special girlfriend who just had a little baby boy. It's a pretty exciting deal! I am so happy for her, she's wanted a baby ever since i've known her, so it's really awesome.

I find baby cards a little hard to make because I always want to try and make them very soft and pastel like, except i'm a colour person so it's hard. Anyways, I gave into colour and this is what I came up with.

I used the CASusal Fridays challenge this week to design my card, I chose my pattern, my image, and added a sentiment...voila!

Stamps: Animal Stories (retired), Swirls and Curls Verses (retired) &/or Teeny Tiny Verses
Ink: Brocade Blue, Pumpkin Pie
Paper: Brocade Blue, Brilliant Blue, Whisper White cardstock, and Pawsitively Prints DSP
Tools: Tasteful Trim die, Boho Blossoms punch, Big Shot
Extras: Pumpkin Pie corduroy button (retired), Pumpkin Pie ric rac ribbon (retired)

I made a couple versions, this is the baby one and the one at the top I made a little more generic with a curly hello.

Take a peek at the inside...(and a side view of my little corduroy sun!)

Okay, here's a full on view of the little whales on the inside.

I think the little whale is the only one in this set that I haven't yet used; it makes me so happy I found a place for him!

CTD180: Welcome Baby

I really loved the colour combo over at  The Colour Throwdown this week. Check it out:

It seemed to me that these colours would be perfect for a baby card. I do just happen to have a friend who is waiting to bring her little boy into this world by the first week of March. I would have to say he helped with the inspiration of this card.

Stamps: Punch Bunch, So Happy For You
Ink: Barely Banana, Bashful Blue, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Grey
Tools: scallop square punch, square punch
Extras: brads, grosgrain ribbon, button bouquet

I love those little duckies and what makes this stamp even better, is that in MDS I can enlarge to whatever size I want. I find that in real life the stamp is too small and the cute detail of it is lost. But in MDS, it's great!
I added some brads to the little umbrella's trim and a button on top.

I carried over the same colours into the inside of the card. What a fun colour combo this was! I never would have thought of it.

Hope you have fun finding beauty in the details today.

Small Wondehdehdeh...

As much as I'm dying to post some pictures of some of the Christmas cards I've been making...they are unfortunately on a camera that I've forgotten at my sister's. Sigh. So, instead I will show you a card I made for my niece's christening.

I had seen a number of different variations on how to make a lamb out of punches, but I didn't have some of those particular tools, so I improvised and it all ended up coming out great! What do you think?

Stamps: Whimsical Words (retired: sale-a-bration 2010)
Ink: Basic Black stampin' write journaler, pretty in pink marker, versamark, pretty in pink pad
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Grey, Pink Pirouette
Tools: Scallop trim border punch, word window punch, 1 1/4" square punch, corner punch, 1 3/4"scallop circle punch, 2 3/8" scallop circle punch, Boho blossoms punch, Bird punch, white embossing powder, heat gun, sponge daubers
Extras: Pretty in pink gingham ribbon (retired)

The card is pretty self explanatory. I used the word window punch for the legs and just blackened ends with marker for hoofs. I used a square punch for the face and rounded the corners. Her ears are made from the bird punch's wings.

The greeting is stamped in versamark and then I used white embossing powder. I used a sponge dauber and sponged over the greeting once embossed to make the words stand out a bit.

The face I drew freehand with markers. She was so much fun to make, I have to make more sometime! But Christmas is taking all my time right now. I suppose I'll end up waiting until necessity forces me to make another !?

A star is born

A cute card was required to welcome a friend's little boy to the world.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip
Tools: Crop-a-dile, Modern Label Punch, small star punch, smaller oval punch
Embellishments: Chocolate Chip ribbon, pewter eyelet, random button
Stamp set: Nursery Necessities, Level 1 Hostess set from Summer Mini 2010 (greeting)
Ink: Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip

The little boat was cut out and popped up onto the layers of blue & chocolate. I had to use the stamp-majig to get the words spaced appropriately around the star. I curled the edges of the modern label punch up for dimension. So simple and cute!
