HSSC 115: Boy's Baptism

I needed a card for a baby boy's baptism. I really wanted to use the cross made with the corner scallop punch but, it just wouldn't work out. So, I moved on. Instead, I put my efforts in trying to infuse spring into this card. I was inspired by how beautiful it was outside! Plus, my idea fell in nicely with this week's Hand Stamped Sentiments spring theme.

(I apologize for the crooked photos!!!)

Stamps: Woodgrain, God`s Blessings
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue
Paper: Bashful Blue, Daffodil Delight, Barely Banana, Crumb Cake, Certainly Celery, Whisper White cardstock and Certainly Celery dsp
Tools: sponge daubers,  1 1/4" circle punch, bird punch, itty bitty punch pack, jewelry tag punch, scallop trim border punch and corner punch (to make template for cross)
Extras: blue rhinestones

I went a little sponge crazy! I sponged everything...I got in the zone on this one and things became a little more intricate than I had originally envisioned, but sometimes creativity takes over and voilĂ !

I think the little flowers the best, I always love those little flowers.

Big...BIG...sunshine! Yay, the sun is back! ... or well the warmth is back, whatever, it's good!

Happy springtime!

A Softer Egg

A more subdued card and once again sorry about the lighting in this first picture. This is the softest of my egg cards, with a zap of yellow. It's for my sister.

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes, Loads of Love Accessories, Swirls and Curls Verses (inside greeting)
Ink: Melon Mango, Daffodil Delight, Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink
Paper: Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White cardstock and Ice Cream Parlour dsp (retired)
Tools: Only Ovals die, Word Window punch, Itty Bitty punch pack
Extras: Blue rhinestones, and various other ribbon scraps

Layering fun!

I think one could add those little flowers to anything. I have to restrain myself from actually putting them everything. I couldn't find one of the punchess the other day, and it was a bit of a panic.

It just so happens that this weekend is also her birthday, so....

I put a little Bashful Blue stitching around the inside.

A birthday with Easter eggs!

On each plate will be a little treat. I made some quick little treat cups and filled them with eggs and the most adorable little chocolate lambs.

Paper: Sunny Day dsp (retired)
Tools: Table Setting die (retired) and Big Shot machine

Yay! It's party time!

Have a great weekend, and thanks for stopping by!

SSC54 & OCC4: Egg number two

Welcome to my second Easter Egg card. I know Easter is over, but since I had some more ribbon scraps and the theme for this week's challenge over at Simply Stampin' is Easter, I decided to make a second egg card. Plus, because my sister was away for Easter, we are celebrating it for my side of the family this weekend. It turns out that the Easter theme is also taking place at Our Creative Corner as well, yay! So please bear with my Easter creations for just a little longer!

(I'm sorry this first picture doesn't have the best lighting.)

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes, Loads of Love Accessories, Easter Blossoms (inside greeting)
Ink: Pear Pizzaz, Tangerine Tango, Baja Blue, Daffodil Delight
Paper: Tangerine Tango, Whisper White cardstock and Greenhouse Gala dsp (retired)
Tools: Only Ovals die, Word Window punch
Extras: Tangerine Tango pom-pom trim, and various other ribbon scraps

A few pictures to show you how the different layers look. That's some pretty groovy designer paper in the background, eh? It's always fun when I end up using paper I couldn't really envision using on a project and then creating a project that it looks good on. Those zig-zags reminded me decorated Easter eggs.

Those adorable little mini pom poms are actually on the clearance rack right now! and they come in other colours! So cute, they make anything instantly adorable.

This pile of Easter eggs is one of the cool things about the Loads of Love Accessories set, the little piles don't have to go in the truck, they can be used in lots of other ways.

Thanks for coming to check out my card today. I don't think I am done using up ribbon scraps, so please come back to see what else I come up with.

Hope you enjoyed your Easter feast over the weekend!

The Decorated Egg

I was making some eggs decorated with ribbon for my Easter cards, a technique inspired by Heather Klump's card seen here, and I chose to use my stash of ribbon remnants that I throw into a tin. The majority of my eggs were in brightly coloured ribbon combinations, the more carefree and festively decorated the better!

But, for the Stampin Royalty challenge this week we had to work with an inspiration picture:

I LOVE orange and really liked this pallet so this is what I came up with, since I was looking to do an Easter card:

Stamps: Well Scripted (retired), Inspired by Nature, Flight of the Butterfly (inside greeting)
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Old Olive
Paper: Greenhouse Gala & Tangerine Tango dsp, Pear Pizzazz, Chocolate Chip & Whisper White cardstock
Tools: decorative label punch, All Ovals die, scallop punch
Extras: Tangerine Tango pom-pom trim, Chocolate satin ribbon, Pumpkin Pie grosgrain, Mellow Moss 1/4" grosgrain, Old Olive 1/8" taffeta, Pear Pizzazz poly ribbon, Certainly Celery striped ribbon

Tangerine Tango isn't a colour I work with often, but I do like it. It's a very spring orange in my view.

I'm so thrilled to finally have the long grass from the set Inspired by Nature.  I have been pinning for it since I first saw it!

Okay, so I dragged out the sewing machine for these Easter cards (I will share the rest later) and some other ribbon projects. I have not used a sewing machine in awhile. It seemed as though I had to re-thread it like 10 times before I got it right and I remembered what I was doing. So my stitch work is not flawless, but I gave up on flawless and was happy to have figured out how to get the thing finally working! Hoo-rah!

Thanks for visiting!

Happy Spring!
